Projects
* PhySeEar project – ongoing project: In collaboration with “Nuestra Señora de la Soledad” assisted living facility, owned by the town council of Tocina, Sevilla, and administered by Fonserrana S.C.A de interés social.
About this project: For useful feedback in physiotherapy interventions for geriatric rehabilitation, we have designed and tested two prototypes, based on commercially available radio frequency tags. The prototypes were designed to be suitable for a population with limited proprioceptive skills, as well as high dependency rate, and limited cognitive skills.

The system: Two low-fi prototypes.
Focus for design was providing feedback on the movement itself and directing the inpatient’s attention to the object of movement, i.e. their upper or lower limbs. The movements are treated as an end in our designs, rather than a vehicle for an immersive screen-based experience, like some systems before ours.
We have performed an initial explorative study in a real setting.

* LIREC project, from August 2011. Designing and conducting user studies and evaluation of the Team Buddy in two different embodiments: a physical robot and an avatar in a big screen, with our LIREC partners from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland.

The Virtual Team Buddy, or ViTB.
The Physical Team Buddy or PhyTB.
With all the time spent together, we became very close and feel absolute empathy towards each other… :P
* LIREC project, from March 2011. Designing and conducting user studies and evaluation of dinosaur toy in two different embodiments: a robot and a mobile platform, with our LIREC partners from INESC-ID and Instituto Superior Tecnico.
* DanceCrew project in colaboration with Movinto Fun AB, funded by VINNOVA. Improving the user experience with a mobile game platform: the BodyBug
